I have such a sweet husband who decided last November that he wanted to take me on vacation. After many months of patiently waiting for our adventure we last Sunday we hopped on a plane to Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was an hour difference due to the time change so after leaving the airport the size of a small island of DFW around 10:15am we arrived to an airport smaller than my high school in Santa Fe around 10:55am. We were both taken away with how small it was and how there we no trees...
We checked on at Las Palomas Bed and Breakfast . I had never stayed at a B&B before but I hope to from now on.
We decided to just relax on this vacation without a car or exact plan so we asked the B&B good places for lunch that were within walking distance.(May I mention at this time that we walked EVERYWHERE and that downtown, the places to go, were within a few blocks of the B&B. The husband did good.)
We went to lunch at louie's. The husband had a huge hamburger with onion rings and I had a chicken salad sandwich all eaten outside with a view of the historic city and mountains.
I am not a huge clothing shopper but I love to window shop and this was the town to do it! We walked up and down the blocks looking at many stores. (oh and don't feel sorry for the husband: he is more of the shopper than I am)
Let me give you a picture of down town Santa Fe from our prospective: A little stuck in the 70s, Native American art/jewelry extremely dog friendly, and more friendly "wanderers" than I have seen. No wonder it is called the land of enchantment.

After some ice cream, people watching in the plaza, and some more stores we wandered across town for the perfect dinner spot. We found the Atomic Grill, a place Rachel Ray from Food Network visited and gave good reviews on.
It was great! I had a portebella mushroom sandwich and the husband had enchiladas with green chile sauce. It made for a great start to a great trip!
You have to try Pasqual's for breakfast! Get there at 8am, bc it's super busy, but amazing. So great that setup there specifically on our way to Colorado to fuel up for all of our backpacking trips. The Durango omlette is good. Well, anything's good. We were in Santa Fe once and stopped by Atomic cafe and a guy was playing guitar. He took a break and my friend Amy asked if she could play while he was on break. He said sure, and she was a hit! She made him a ton of tips! Hahah have a great time with your hubby and enjoy your time off
